Did you know this is the Power of the Reusable Bag Action Week?! Is it not mentioned in your day-timer? Never mind, you’re going to love this: a week promoting reusable bags and one in particular, Poksak®, also raises money to send children to college.
Poksak’s two major goals:
- sending orphans to university
- promoting environmental awareness through lovable, washable, pouchable, over-the-shoulder-everything-holders
Poksak LLC was co-founded by a university professor and her family. When asked how she came up with the idea to unite university education for orphans with trendy, pouchable totes, she replies, “We have three educators in my family, and for years we have all, at different times, wanted to find a way to help the most underprivileged youth gain access to better education. A year and a half ago, I had just returned from France to start my university career, and had also returned with a simple, environmentally-friendly, product idea, widely-used in Europe, that could serve as the point of departure for a social venture: the pouchable reusable bag, a.k.a. the poksak®. Once our product was established, we teamed up with the Orphan Foundation of America to set up the Poksak Foster Fund Scholarship program. For each poksak bought at $3.99, Poksak donates 25 cents to the scholarship. This program will allot scholarships of up to $6,000 to qualified orphans. We are excited to be awarding our first scholarship this June.”
Poksaks’ greatest fans have been schools, mothers, and children. Schools love poksaks because they contribute to higher education. Kids love poksaks because they can stuff the bags back into the cute pouches and then trade them with their friends. Mothers think they’re great for every day errands; they are affordable, easy to store in a briefcase, pocket and purse, and are thus very unlikely to be forgotten at precisely the moment an extra bag is direly needed.
So pack a poksak and support an orphan today!
Poksak LLC (www.poksak.com), a social venture in partnership with the Orphan Foundation of America, Kidoinfo.com and MAU.

I use the Poksak for everything! It’s so convenient and easy to carry around in my handbag for those occassions when I shop at the grocery store, farmers markets, shopping malls, book stores, etc. Last week I used it as a beach bag! The week before as a shoe bag! There’s no end to its uses! It’s washable and dries quickly.
Definitely value for money!
