| Ladies, it’s 2 in the
morning, I’m holding a freaking glue gun, I’m somehow
going to have to explain to my children why their toys are glued
to my head and I’m thinking about all of you! I heard
the Democracy Now pieces on the parades and I am so proud to
be standing tall, speaking loud, and getting down with all of
you. Whether there are 2 people or 200 (at our parade), there
is no way to fail when one person raises their voice to bring
dignity to another. We, my friends, are indeed a force to be
reckoned with!

SING it out
in the streets…
Whispering inevitably leads to singing.
Singing expresses your commitment to children in public in
order to inspire and invite your community to join you. Singing
is offering tools to your larger community to move from concern
to action on behalf of the world’s children. To symbolize
the joy in standing up for children, the MAU logo is a mother*
on stilts—taking big strides, clearly visible and exuberant.
Since it is virtually impossible to stand still on stilts(!),
parading is a necessity! Sing out in the streets and invite
everyone to add their voices.
Share
the current monthly MAU actions with your friends, family,
book club, babysitters, co-op and work mates. Visit
the take action page, print the actions and GO!
Attend events
in your community (educational lectures, teach-ins, city council
candidates’ forums, local meetings of your political
party), and share the MAU vision and actions with other shakers
& movers. Invite two friends to join you (on stilts or
off).
Talk
with your community by scheduling speaking engagements
at your church, League of Women Voters, library, retirement
homes, etc. Find sample speeches for you to use &
improve in TOOLS.
Walk on stilts.
By far the most exciting & powerful community outreach
is hosting a MAU Mother’s Day Parade.
For “do re mi” and all
you need to sing out
