Mother’s Day 2007

Mother Leadership

Children's wellbeing is at the top of every mother's agenda.
It's time to bring it to the top of our political agendas.

Welcome shy visionaries and rabble-rousers! Welcome busy mothers and stilt walkers! Welcome single moms, grandmothers and uncles! You're invited to join a movement of mothers* in reclaiming Mother's Day.

Arise in honor of Mother Leadership and our decision to stretch wide our capable arms and embrace children whose lives are intertwined with our own children's lives: politically, environmentally, economically and culturally. Whatever our personal motivations — our compassion & sense of humanity — we must also recognize that THE most important way we can care for our own children is to ensure the wellbeing of all the world's children. Mothers, it's time to bring our values and skills into the public arena and shape polices that will determine the future of our world.

This Mother's Day, may we inspire, educate and engage our communities in leading a magnificent revolution to honor the promise of our children's lives.

with your brilliant ideas to reclaim Mother's Day in your community - from picnics in the parks, cake walks in the school gym, to full blown parades. (No event is too teeny or too big, and remember: one Mama on stilts = media attention!)

P.S. Stay tuned for a collective MAU Mother's Day action regarding bringing our Mother Agenda to decision makers far & wide.
